If, in the opinion of the director, a maintenance bond is necessary, final approval shall not be granted until a bond in the amount of $2,500 or 15 percent of the original indemnity bond, whichever is greater, is posted with the city. The maintenance bond is to be held by the city for a period of one year from the date of final approval. A cash deposit or guarantee account equal to $2,500 or 15 percent of the original indemnity bond, whichever is greater, may be substituted for the maintenance bond for the same time period.
