“Assisted living facility,” also known as “assisted living residences,” “continuing care community” and “Alzheimer’s/dementia care facility,” means an establishment which provides full-time convalescent or chronic care or both for three or more individuals who are not related by blood or marriage to the operator or who, by reason of chronic illness or infirmity, are unable to care for themselves. Minor medical care may be provided at the facilities. A hospital or sanitarium shall not be construed to be included in this definition.
