A. Open Channel Construction. Applicants proposing to handle drainage with open channels must meet the following submittal requirements:

1. The water surface elevation will be indicated on the plan and profile drawings.

2. The configuration of the finished grades constituting the banks of the open channel will be shown on the drawings.

3. The proposed cross-section of the channel will be shown with stable side slopes as approved by the public works department.

4. The water surface elevation of the flow for the design storm will be indicated on the cross-section.

5. The director may require the applicant to submit calculations and/or other design information to prove that channel erosion will not occur.

B. Stormwater Site Plan. Applicants proposing Category 1 or Category 2 projects shall submit a stormwater site plan. Stormwater site plans shall use site-appropriate development principles to retain native vegetation and minimize impervious surfaces to the extent feasible. Stormwater site plans shall be prepared in accordance with the stormwater manual.

C.  Commencement of construction work meeting any of the thresholds identified in LMC 13.40.050 shall not begin until such time as a storm drainage permit is applied for, the permit is processed by the public works department as required by LMC 2.44.040, and final approval of the stormwater site plan is obtained in accordance with LMC 13.40.080. Failure to comply with this provision shall result in revocation of all permits for the proposed development, and the city may proceed as authorized under LMC 13.40.150. The same plan submitted during one permit/approval process may be subsequently submitted with further required applications. The plan shall be supplemented with such additional information as required by LMC 2.44.040 and/or required by the provisions of the stormwater manual.

D. The requirements of this section may be modified at the discretion of the director when more information is deemed necessary. (Ord. 3443 § 1, 2023; Ord. 2833 § 2, 2010)
